Hi there!
Its been a while, like a long time, like 2 years too long! Sorry about that folks. Lots has been happening, but its a homestead so its never boring here lol lets start with a quick update...
We finished the Walapini build about a year and a half ago, and experienced our first winter and we LEARNED LOOTTS, I promise we can write a book on what not to do. Our first winter made us realize we need a reliant heat source other than propane, thus came the batch box rocket mass heater.. with thanks to spirit wood, permies.com / paul wheaton, peter, dragon technology, firespeaking and the whole crew for the input and materials. The heater is almost completely upcycled materials (besides what couldnt be ie the ceramic firewool, fire door etc, A majority of the materials were even upcycled from around the Bitterroot Valley and even river rock from the Rivers and slate from the bitterroot mountains (not recommended, its tough to pull rocks that weigh so much out from the earth when temps are dipping) so far its been working great and saving money on that propane bill but we have the propane in case the rocket mass heater does not supply enough heat throughout the night. Although this has not happened yet, we had a mild winter this year in southwestern MT.
Aside from our chickens and roosters we added COWS! Annie and Sally are Dutch Belted Dairy cows and boy do they have personalities! It has been a learning curve with hand milking and building a milk barn for them, ill post more information about that soon.
lets get to the workshop!
Andrew and I along with others created a NON PROFIT!! We finalllyyy got it put together with the right people. Years of dreaming coming into fruition! So please, come on down to our first ETERNAL GREENHOUSES workshop where you can learn hands on about Climate Battery and UNDERGROUND Greenhouses!
email us for RSVP and address! and hope to see you there!
love,
anais and the eternal bloom gang <3
